Strategically located near Royal residences, the senior family at Seton was east of the capital of Edinburgh and the seat of power along the main road into Scotland, at Holyrood Palace in the city center as well as along the northern road into Linlithgow Palace.  The Seton's of Touch were centrally located at Stirling, the next important Royal stronghold; the Seton's of Parbroath at Falkland Palace, and the Meldrums in the north.
