The House and Estate of Meldrum was the central home of the Seton's of Meldrum, the head of the Aberdeenshire family which held among other estates:  Aquhorthies, Barra, Bourtie, Disblair, Menie, Mounie, Pitmedden, Shethin, Slattie.  They were Hereditary Chamberlains to the Gordon Earls of Huntly and had been Chamberlains to the Seton Earls of Dunfermline at Fyvie Castle (of the Winton Family), and Chancellor’s of Aberdeen and of St. Machar’s Cathedral.
