The Hon.
Sir John Seton, 2nd son of the 6th Lord Seton, was
born 1532 and married the heiress of David Balfour
of Cariston and founded the Setons of Cariston.
His two sons were: Sir John, Captain in the Scots
Guards in France, rep.
by the Seton's of France; and his heir George
Seton of Cariston who married Margaret Ayton.
The Seton's of Cariston maintained prominence until the line ended with George, last
Seton of Cariston, who sold the estate. The line
devolved upon his sister, Margaret, who married a
cousin Henry Seton.
